AdSense for Search (AFS) is a Google product that allows you to optimize your site with Google search and shopping ads to earn extra income. It is a type of Adsense ads. Users can use AdSense for Search to monetize their search result pages and content. This new approach help publishers to earn more revenue from their sites with AdSense for Search (AFS) and Programmable Search Engine (ProSE).
Why use AdSense for Search
- Targeted, relevant ads: The search query is utilized by search ads to deliver highly targeted, relevant ads. Satisfied users generate more revenue.
- Incremental revenue: Enhances the display ads on your website, providing you with an additional source of income.
- Access to the Google Search Network: By using AdSense for Search, you can tap into the Google Search Network and monitor advertisers’ expenses in the search experience on your websites.
How to Apply?
The first thing you need to do to add a new site to your AdSense account in the Sites tab is to enable ads on that site as of March 4, 2024. A verification process will be conducted on all new sites to confirm that you own the site or can modify its content.
This process involves examining your site to ensure it adheres to the AdSense program policies and Google Publisher policies. Your site will be marked as ‘ready’ after the check is processed and you can start exhibiting AFS ads.
As we strive to ensure that our systems operate at their best, we are initiating this change in multiple phases.
- If you are currently using AFS to monetise them, they will automatically be listed in your AdSense account under the Sites tab. The deadline for submitting your sites is August 30, 2024.
- Ads will remain in place during this time frame. Until your sites are approved, Google will no longer display AFS ads on them if they have not been submitted by 30 August 2024.

How to earn with AdSense for Search
By implementing AdSense for Search (AFS) on your website, you can earn revenue from user clicks on ad of search results pages.
You will not earn any money if users search for something on your site, but opt out of clicking ads on the search results pages.
For AFS, publishers receive 51% of recognized revenue from Google.
